The first collaborative workshop
object-repair in Cuenca.

FabLab Cuenca envisions a communal hub within the neighborhood, fostering a space centered on collaborative repair, knowledge sharing, and social interaction among the people of Cuenca. The primary goal is to minimize waste and support a collaborative, circular economy, striving against planned product obsolescence.
This activity focuses on "learning by doing," engaging participants in repairing items and fostering a culture that embraces sustainability in a repair-cafe setting. Participants gather to work on restoring various everyday items, including electronics, mechanical devices, computers, bicycles, and/or clothing. The repair-cafe culture aims to curb waste, overconsumption, and planned obsolescence, making it an integral part of the grassroots movement. Beyond fixing items, the repair-cafe environment aims to rekindle the 'do-it-together' and 'do it yourself' spirit while enhancing social cohesion within the community.
